But that would also offer town more opportunities to act dumb and seem scummier too.

I guess this will depend on the person playing. But assuming everyone is the same level of play then mafia will have a higher chance of slipping than town. So theoretically even if town can act dumb, it is still worth everyone being active because mafia has the higher chance of slipping. Then it is up to town to be able to deduce scum correctly from the info being given from this activeness. Activeness is very important and it is never bad no matter the circumstances, it is just how the players use it that determine the game.

There's also the fact that many times there's almost always an inactive lynch (not saying that's bad, it's worked fairly often), but having everyone be active would make it so that you don't focus on activity but rather focus on interactions between people. This set of games actually featured a ton of players that were active - and that's something that I like.

If everyone is active, it makes the game more interesting, cough Zenkiti cough
