Game 23: Near-Vanilla

Yosaku D. - You played really well, personally, and I was blown away at how easily you managed to take over Town. You can't necessarily tell from my first couple of posts, by I fully intended to take a spot as a town leader, and you basically blew me out of the water. Applause.

Uncle Milton - Now that we're not in the game, can you please go back and re-read your Leeku/Luana statements? Now that we can all take a step back? Anyways, you had some really good posts in the early game (i forget was there a milton sub?) but as the game wore on, you wore out, and unfortunately the lack of activity lead to a bad end of game play - asking for someone's permission to lynch makes it seem like you want to lose all responsibility for the lynch if it goes awry, and is extremely scummy - not that it mattered, at that point, but just a tip for next time around.

Umberto I. - I played like shit. I wanted to be at Yosaku level quality with my level of activity and that just didn't happen. I too, like Milton, found my post quality just utterly decimated as the game went on - there wasn't enough activity to even make this game FUN to try and win/outsmart. Also, my lovely partner pointed out a few things I do that make it obvious what my identity is, so that's something else to fix next time. Idk how you all feel, but while I wasn't where I wanted to be, I definitely think I did okay.

The Foreman - Sub 1 can die, Sub 2 can die, Sub 3 can die. You sucked. I was ashamed to have you as a partner. There's, what, one post from you in scumchat? And 8 posts in game? Half of them echoing other thoughts or saying there's a post on the way? Ugh, whomever the 3 were in the slot, I just... sigh.

Ramone R. - You can read through some of the Uncle Milton post, but when the game opened out you really did seem like you were trying, but it just deteriorated because of confirmation bias or whatever else. You tunneled townies very hard, and the only person that can do it that hard and live (as Town, anyway) is Mob Boss. I think you had the laid back playstyle that would've been good for late game pressure, but you just lost it towards the end. Congrats also on being one of only two people I don't believe I've identified yet this game.

Mariss A. - Oh Mariss. Such a failed opportunity with you. Like Austin said, if someone had pressured Yosaku (and possibly myself) we would have crumbled pretty quickly I feel, but I didn't see any of it from you. Every post I read from you was townie, there just wasn't enough activity to get you high enough on people's town lists to be worth anything. A lot of quality Town posts came out of you, but you didn't push the rest of your Town harder enough to follow through on 'em. Or maybe you did, and it's all their faults. Ha! Kudos for being a good player, just with not enough foundation to do anything with it.

Case C. - I'm so, so sorry. You and Mariss would've been the one to make us fall, but we took out your support of weak townies until you had no choice left but to just accept us as your leaders. As always (as I know who you are) I'll compliment you on the quality of your Town play, and just blame this on shit town.

Woodward K. - What in the hell do I even say about this? Sorry you died day 1, but you would've been a mess to deal with later on. If you are who I believe you to be, you would have found some tear or loophole with Yosaku and I and had us dead and buried for it in a matter of a page. Thank god we MLed you early.

Austin M. - Again, my apologies to you, but hats off for being incredibly Townie enough that we felt the need to kill you, but apparently not Townie enough to warrant JK/Doc. I was blown away that the kill went through on you, honestly, but this game would have gone very differently had you lived to see Day 2. Like you said, as game wore on you saw the slips from Yosaku and I (only once you were told) but you would have eventually picked us apart for it. Applause for you, too.

Luana V. - I am so done with you from here to kingdom come. Yours and Leeku's tunnels on eachother were the equivalent of a shitty Twidbo, and that's coming from me. There was so much confirmation bias surrounding the two of you that it made Day 2 onwards an impossibiity to handle. Like Austin said, once that Day 2 lynch flipped, you were doomed because of those tunnels.

Clarissa W. - Oof. I was shocked that you were the Doctor, but looking back on the game there is genuinely nobody else that it could have been. You were flawless in that you were Townie enough to not be lynched and scummy enough that we wanted you kept alive...but only to a point. Eventually, you had to go, and you were further up on the Town list than we wanted. Your posts were of an okay quality, and I think with more motivation and maybe some prods in the right direction you would have done phenomenally.

Leeku O. - See Luana. Also, your rival wrecked you. #sorrynotsorry

Pierre T. - Like I said at the end of Ramone's post, congratulations on being one of two people I don't think I can identify. You, like Clarissa, did a nice job of staying very middle of the pack (not scummy enough to die not townie enough to be lynched; not scummy enough to warrant a JK block [though you were JK] not townie enough to warrant a doctor save). You did an amazing job of hiding the fact that you were a PR, and I think if you'd put your knowledge of blocks/etc. into some your scumhunting, and had some more motivated activity, you could have done really well too.

That's all I have...feel free to debate me on these points or whatever, this is just how I felt about people.

Game 23: Near-Vanilla

Austin M. wrote:I knew this game was lost at day 2's lynch lol.

It was quite interesting watching the game from the sides coz it told me many things. Yosaku and umberto, despite being active, made many slips that were even more obvious when i knew who the mafia were. But when i didnt, i did suspect yosaku day 1 and coming on to day 2 (which i then tried to guess the mafia and got them except for umberto so gj) which showed that yosaku could have cracked if pressured. However what mafia did extremely well was keep a message resonant which is: "scum tend to lurk and not help town" which is not true at all but the rest of town were too worried to lose an active guy. However it is frustrating because town didnt even try and pressure any of the actives...not even me. Ultimately this is what led to town's demise. What really annoyed me was the marissa + foreman thing because it should have been fairly obvious that it was one of the two because of how they echod each other. Marissa tried to make an effort but 3 (or 4?) Different people failed to make an effort for the foreman. Even yosaku said that "people should still have a bit of time in their day to post something". That was an extremely missed opportunity but it was because yosaku and umberto at a point in the game where they were so dominant so they literally controlled who got lynched. One of the biggest indicators tho was that i got killed n1 despite there being a JK and a doc which is an extremely big risk. However when the town doc was killed the mafia seemingly didnt target umberto or yosaku, the active ones, despite being a safer and more effective choice than the n1 kill on me. They showed that they are willing to take risks so not killing yosaku or umberto should have been something that allowed you guys to pressure them and maybe bring up other stuff about them. I could probs go on about the mistakes made by town but the post is already too long lol.

I am pretty sure if yosaku is reading this that he wants to know why i suspected him. It was because of your townie play. It was too forced. Honestly nowadays, no one but mafia plays in that kind of style where pretty much all they do day 1 is be nice to everyone and ask them nicely to talk because it tells mafia that "hey i want town to win and i am gonna try hard to rek you" despite not doing any actual scumhunting. In a game with no nightkills, this is a totally fine strategy to use but this game had nightkills so you just put yourself in a place where you just risked your death without accomplishing much. Did the inactives talk after you tried to encourage them? No. Did you need to make a post between every other just to say that you wanted to hear from so and so? No. But why did you do it? To make myself look townie. But did it actually accomplish anything? Lol no. In contrast, although i seemed blatantly townie, it was only because i tried to put forward good points which everyone agreed was good. Notice how i didnt even post that much tho, maybe once or twice a day. Although this isnt enough to say you were scum, this is enough to give me a good excuse to pressure you as much as i can and maybe gather a case against you. Unfortunately i died tho so i could never reach that stage.

Speaking of which, how on earth did you predict that doc and JK werent gonna go on me? Although i critised town a lot, i still have to say that mafia did play very well, especially umberto since the way he played didnt really make me think he was scum until i was told by AJ so kudos to him.

I much appreciate the kudos, it means a lot since you hated me after what I did to us in Hydra. I agree entirely, the game was pretty shit due to inactive Town, but at least we're not as inactive as 24.

As far as kills go, we would've used WIFOM for that - JK is more likely to save a townread than block a scumread, which is why you died (Yosaku saved?) and then doc died (Clarissa was middle of the back, a harder lynch, not a likely save) and then the Pierre kill went by the same middle of the pack theory - too townie to be picked by JK to block (thus saving him) too scummy to be picked by JK to protect (thus blocking him).

All in all, Austin, I was actually impressed by your play, which is why you had to go.

As for the Foreman I'd like to here him say stuff before we lynch.
Right now I'd say in order of scummiest
Ramone>Marissa/Me>Foreman
And I wont hammer just yet, I want permission from case yosaku or Umberto before hammer

Well, assuming it's Ramone, then I'd have to put my money on it being Foreman and Uncle Milton, because Mariss seemed like she wanted Ramone to die too early on for it to be a setup for bus, especially not this close to lylo.
